What's new?

Secondee Program.

We are pleased to welcome our two most recent secondees.  Sara is from Dublin and Kelly is from San Francisco.  They will be helping us throughout the busy audit season.  Both have already settled in and are an integral part of the team.  We look forward to working with them over the next couple of months and showing the sights of Adelaide and South Australia.  Both have plans to visit other parts of the country while they are here.  This is the 10th year that we have had secondees from other Nexia firms throughout the world and consider this a valuable opportunity for our staff who wish to take part in this program.  The program has proved to be highly successful for both us and the secondees.  We look forward to our continued participation in this program.

Small Business Superannuation Clearing House

The Small Business Superannuation Clearing House, administered by Medicare Australia, is a free online clearing house service available to small businesses with less than 20 employees.  In recognition of the red tape and compliance costs facing small business in meeting their SGC obligations, the Clearing House is designed to enable small business to meet their SGC obligations by way of a single electronic payment for all employees, which will then be forwarded to the appropriate superannuation funds on the employers behalf.

In order to utilise this service you will need to register your employee's superannuation fund details and superannuation contributions with the Clearing House for processing.  The Clearing House will then distribute the superannuation contributions to the relevant funds as registered. Once you are set up, it will only take a few minutes to use the Clearing House.  Each time you make a contribution, your employees' preferences will be pre-populated for you.  You will only need to enter the contribution amounts.  If you have employees whose entitlements are a fixed regular amount, a payment option is also available for you to nominate a regular contribution amount for those employees.

How Do I Register For This Service?

Registrations can be made at www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/super.

Registration is completed in two stages.

  1. After registering your business details at www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/super a user ID and password will be sent to the address you registered with the Clearing House.  Once you receive these details you can logon to the Clearing House and finalise your registration.
  2. You will then need to enter the details for each of your employees.  Completion of this step should only take a few minutes and only needs to be done once.  Details will then be pre-populated each time a contribution is made.

How Do I Make A Payment?

Each time you make a contribution you will need to enter the 'to' and 'from' dates that your payment relates to and the system will populate the employees for that period based on the information you entered on registration.

You will then only need to enter the contribution amounts for each employee and submit the payment to the Clearing House.  If you have entered a standard amount this will also be automatically populated.  The system will generate the total contribution amount required to be paid to the employees chosen superannuation funds.

You then make a single payment to the Clearing House which will be distributed to the relevant superannuation funds once a match is made with your deposit and the contribution instruction.

You can make payments as regularly as you like.  Your superannuation guarantee obligations will be discharged once payment for the contribution instruction amount is accepted by the Clearing House.

Once you have made payments you will be able to view a report through the instructions history tab on the employers main page of the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House.

Full clearing house services, including payments, are available from 1 July 2010.
